Stake ETH on Binance and what you get back is WBETH (Wrapped Beacon ETH). It represents the ETH you staked plus the staking rewards generated after 08:00 (UTC) on April 27, 2023. The most visible difference from ETH is the amount: staking 1 ETH gets you less than 1 WBETH, and that amount never grows on its own afterwards, because all the rewards build up in the exchange rate. The rate updates daily at 00:00 (UTC), and the ETH that 1 WBETH can be redeemed for rises with it.

ETH is Ethereum's native coin, and holding it in your spot wallet earns no staking rewards. WBETH keeps accruing rewards while still being tradable, usable as collateral, and withdrawable to a self-custody wallet on BNB Smart Chain or the Ethereum network. It also comes with a few rules ETH doesn't have: a fee is taken out of the rewards, converting back to ETH is subject to daily limits, and its secondary-market price can drift away from the exchange rate.

What changes when you hold WBETH instead of ETH?

Because the rate keeps rising, the later you stake, the less WBETH the same amount of ETH buys. The product page FAQ addresses this directly: wrapping ETH into WBETH doesn't reduce your ETH balance, and when you redeem, it converts back at the rate of the day, with principal and rewards both included.

According to the ETH Staking product page, staking rewards keep accruing while you use WBETH as loan collateral, as collateral for margin and futures, or in DeFi projects.

How much WBETH your ETH gets you

The conversion needs one number: the day's WBETH:ETH exchange rate, meaning how much ETH 1 WBETH is worth. That's what the exchange rate field on the ETH Staking product page shows, and you can see it without logging in.

  • WBETH received when staking = ETH staked ÷ that day's exchange rate
  • ETH received when redeeming = WBETH redeemed × the exchange rate on the redemption day

The product page FAQ gives a worked example, which Binance notes is for illustration only. On July 22, 2023 the rate was 1:1.01004105, so staking 10 ETH got 10 ÷ 1.01004105 = 9.90058770 WBETH. By October 23, 2023 the rate had risen to 1:1.01980774, and redeeming at that point got 9.90058770 × 1.01980774 ≈ 10.09669596 ETH. The extra 0.09669596 ETH is three months of staking rewards, while the WBETH stayed at 9.90058770 the whole time.

BETH/WBETH conversions on the WBETH page are always rounded to eight decimal places. Every day from 23:45 to 00:15 (UTC), staking, wrapping and redemption are paused while the exchange rate is updated. If the buttons don't respond during that half hour, that's expected.

Does Binance take 10% or 7.5% of ETH staking rewards?

Staking ETH for WBETH, wrapping BETH into WBETH and redeeming WBETH for ETH cost nothing as actions. The fee comes only out of staking rewards; your principal isn't touched.

How much is taken depends on which Binance page you read, because two of them give two different figures. Binance's Help Center article on ETH staking says that since July 6, 2023 a fee has been charged on staking rewards, at a standard rate of 10% (given for reference only) collected before rewards are distributed, to offset the hardware and network costs of building and running validator nodes. The same passage says Binance may adjust the fee at any time without notice. The ETH Staking product page FAQ, in its answer on why the annual rate changes, says a 7.5% fee is charged on rewards.

The two numbers don't match. Before staking, open the product page to see what it says at that point, then compare it with the Help Center passage; if you're still unsure, ask through the live support entry in the app or on the website. The two rates are 2.5 percentage points apart. Suppose your stake produced 0.1 ETH of on-chain rewards over some period (an illustrative figure that doesn't represent any actual return):

Fee rateTaken from 0.1 ETH of rewardsRewards left to you
10%0.1 × 10% = 0.01 ETH0.09 ETH
7.5%0.1 × 7.5% = 0.0075 ETH0.0925 ETH

The reference annual rate on the product page is adjusted daily and is an estimate. What you actually receive varies with how the Ethereum network is running, the total amount of ETH staked across the network, and how the validator nodes perform.

Redeeming WBETH back to ETH

  1. Log in to Binance, go to the Earn section, open ETH Staking under ETH, and choose to redeem.
  2. Enter the amount of WBETH to redeem. The page lists the ETH you'll get at the current rate, your daily personal redemption limit, the platform-wide redemption limit and the expected ETH distribution date. Check them, then confirm the redemption.
  3. Once the request has been processed, the ETH lands in your spot wallet.

Two things to know before you submit: a redemption request can't be cancelled once submitted, and the exchange rate is locked at the moment you redeem, so no more rewards accrue while the redemption is pending.

Redemption won't go through, the limit is too low, or the ETH is slow to arrive

  • The redeem button doesn't respond: check the time. 23:45 to 00:15 (UTC) is the daily pause, so try again once that half hour is over.
  • The amount is above your daily personal limit: this limit caps how much ETH each person can redeem per day, and Binance puts it down to processing limits on the Ethereum network. Redeem the part within the limit today and submit the rest the next day.
  • The platform-wide limit is used up: the redemption pool is topped up throughout the day, and the timing and size of top-ups are adjusted. Come back to the redemption page a little later and check the remaining quota.
  • The distribution date is later than you expected: the product page says redemption quotas and processing times depend on the total volume of withdrawal requests on the Ethereum network. The redemption page shows the expected processing time, and Binance's Help Center article on ETH staking points to where you can check the status and arrival time of requests you've already submitted.

Binance's Help Center article explaining what WBETH is says WBETH can be redeemed for ETH on the product page at any time, with zero fees. The zero fees match the fee explanation above, but the any-time part needs a caveat: the personal limit, the platform limit and the daily half-hour pause can each stop a redemption from completing the same day. If you can't wait, the spot market has a WBETH/ETH pair. Selling there settles at the market price rather than the exchange rate, and the fill price won't necessarily match that day's rate.

Can WBETH's market price depeg from the exchange rate?

The exchange rate is an intrinsic ratio calculated from staking rewards, while WBETH's price on the spot market is set by buyers and sellers, and the two can move apart. The product page FAQ says the secondary-market price of WBETH is determined by market forces and may deviate from that intrinsic ratio, and that under extreme market conditions the deviation may be larger than expected.

On October 11, 2025, Binance published a statement saying that USDe, BNSOL and WBETH had depegged, leading to the forced liquidation of some users' positions. Binance said it was reviewing the affected users, the liquidation details and a compensation plan, and strengthening its risk-management mechanisms. The statement didn't say how much compensation would be paid or how.

The same product page now also states that WBETH's market price won't be used as a component of the collateral price index for the related products. If you plan to use WBETH as collateral for loans or futures, first check that product's rules page to see which price its collateral value is based on.

One more risk is exactly the same as with ETH. Priced in USDT, WBETH rises and falls with ETH. Staking rewards increase how much ETH you can redeem, but they can't shield you from a fall in ETH itself.

What to do with BETH still in your account

BETH is the earlier staking receipt. It maps 1:1 to staked ETH and can be redeemed 1:1 for ETH. If you hold BETH, staking rewards are paid to your spot wallet in BETH every day.

BETH withdrawals from Binance have been suspended since 08:00 (UTC) on April 26, 2023, so it can only stay on the platform. After Binance's August 31, 2023 announcement of important updates on BETH and WBETH, two more uses went away:

  • the BETH/ETH, BETH/USDT and BETH/BUSD spot pairs were delisted at 16:00 (UTC+8) on October 11, 2023;
  • Binance's flexible Simple Earn products stopped accepting BETH subscriptions from 16:00 (UTC+8) on October 10, 2023.

BETH still earns staking rewards, and wrapping isn't mandatory. You only need to wrap it into WBETH if you want to trade the staked position, use it as collateral or move it on-chain. Go to ETH Staking in the Earn section and choose to stake ETH, then enter the amount of BETH to wrap; the page shows the WBETH you'll get. Choose to wrap, tick the terms in the confirmation window that pops up, and confirm. Wrapping is free. WBETH includes rewards accrued since April 27, 2023, so BETH to WBETH isn't 1:1 either.

Checks before you withdraw WBETH to your own wallet

The staking fee is a percentage taken from rewards, while withdrawing WBETH on-chain carries a separate withdrawal fee, so keep the two apart. If you plan to withdraw to a wallet on BNB Smart Chain or Ethereum, first confirm the receiving side supports the same network, then send a small test amount.

This explains product rules only and is not investment advice. This site doesn't stake or redeem on your behalf, and will never ask for your verification codes, private keys or seed phrase.

FAQ

Who gets the staking rewards if I sell or transfer my WBETH?

The new holder. Binance's Help Center article on ETH staking states that when WBETH or BETH is sold or transferred to another user, ownership of the staked ETH passes to them, together with the rewards already accrued and the right to future rewards. How much ETH you get on redemption depends on the WBETH you hold now, not on how much ETH you originally staked.

Can staked ETH on Binance be slashed?

The underlying staked ETH is maintained by Ethereum validator nodes. If a node acts maliciously or stays offline for a long time, the Ethereum protocol may trigger slashing, which hits the staked principal; this is one of the risks listed on the product page. The disclaimer in Binance's Help Center article on ETH staking says that for certain staking products Binance bears all slashing risk and will return the staked assets in full if slashing occurs. The disclaimer doesn't say which products count as certain.

Does WBETH still earn anything in Simple Earn Flexible?

It gets no Simple Earn rewards, but staking rewards keep accruing. The Help Center states that WBETH doesn't receive Simple Earn rewards and that the WBETH flexible product is meant for users who want to use WBETH as collateral for crypto loans; the August 2023 announcement also says ETH staking rewards continue while you're subscribed to the WBETH flexible product.
